JSON Formatter

Turn messy JSON into readable, structured data. Format, minify, and find syntax errors in seconds.

Private by default. Your input stays in your browser.Learn more
JSON requires double-quoted property names and strings. Remove trailing commas and comments before formatting.

What does this tool do?

A JSON formatter makes compact JSON readable with indentation. This tool also checks whether input is valid JSON and can remove optional whitespace; it does not validate an API schema.

When to use this tool

Use the JSON formatter to inspect API responses, review configuration files, or pretty-print a compact payload. Validation checks JSON syntax; it does not check an API schema. Minifying removes optional whitespace when you need a compact result.

How to use JSON Formatter

  1. Paste your JSON or load the sample.
  2. Choose an indentation level, then format, minify, or validate.
  3. Copy your result or download it as a JSON file.

A quick example

Input: {"hello":"world"}
Output:
{
  "hello": "world"
}

Common questions

Does formatting change my data?

Whitespace changes, but the parsed values stay the same. JavaScript numbers may lose precision for integers beyond Number.MAX_SAFE_INTEGER. Duplicate keys keep only their final value.

Is my JSON uploaded?

No. Parsing and formatting happen in your browser. Input is never saved by this application.

Working with a large input? Text converters accept up to 1,000,000 characters. Regex test text is limited to 50,000 characters and JWTs to 100,000.
